ABOUT US

We are a family run business formally known as Verandah Coachworks, originally established in 1989 by Philip Gover. After the realization that he found it impossible to find a competitively priced horsebox to travel his large Show Cobs and Hunters around the UK and abroad, that was both safe and able to withstand the day to day rigours of use, he decided to begin building his own. Incorporating safety, reliability, and competitive pricing whilst never compromising on quality – something to this day we pride ourselves on.

In the early days the business began building between 2-3 horseboxes a year with an increasing work load for repairs and refurbishments. The new builds came to a stop in 2008 as we concentrated on the repair and refurbishment of horseboxes.

In 2011 Freddie Gover took over the running of the company with a stream of new ideas and that’s when we became Freddie Gover Horseboxes Limited. We have been a limited company since 2012 & gone from strength to strength.

As a family we have eventers & hunters which enables us to understand the needs of our customers & allows us to ensure maximum satisfaction. Our chief test pilot is a lovely 17.1hh, Dutch Warmblood called Deutz along with his friend 17.3hh Irish Sports Horse Lofty!

In Spring 2013 we made the decision to expand the business. Our main yard is conveniently based 5 minutes from Gatwick Airport where we carry out all of the fitting of the living areas, after care & any repair work. The expansion was achieved through initiating a separate, dedicated workshop for the construction of the general bodywork and horse area of our horseboxes.

Our paintwork is still done locally by Pete and Dave in their low bake oven as it has been since day one.

The Gover family continue to be involved in all new builds as well as overseeing the repairs and refurbishments of our current customer base.
