We are a family run business formally known as Verandah Coachworks, originally established in 1989 by Philip Gover. After realising that he found it impossible to find a competitively priced horsebox to travel his large Show Cobs and Hunters around the UK and abroad, that was both safe and able to withstand the day to day rigours of use, he decided to begin building his own. Incorporating safety, reliabilty, and competitive pricing whilst never compromising on quality and safety is what we pride ourselves on.
To start out with the the business built 2-3 horseboxes a year with an increasing work load for repairs and refurbishments. The new builds came to a stop in 2008 as we concentrated on the repair and refurbishment of horseboxes. In 2011 Freddie Gover took over the running of the company and we became Freddie Gover Horseboxes Limited. We have been a limited company since 2012.
As a family we have two horses who are currently out BE Eventing and hunt in the winter. As horse owners we understand the needs of our customers allowing us to ensure maximum satisfaction. Our chief tester is a lovely 17,1hh 6 year old, Dutch Warmblood called Deutz.
In the spring of 2013 we took the decision to expand the business. Our main yard is still conveniently based 5 minutes from Gatwick Airport where we carry out all of our repairs, after care and fitting out the living areas. The expansion was achieved through initiating a separate, dedicated workshop for the construction of the general bodywork and horse area of our horseboxes. Our Paintwork is still done locally by Pete and Dave in their low bake oven as it has been since day one.
The Gover family continue to be involved in all new builds as well as over seeing the repairs and refurbishments of the current customer base.
